VGS
Tracking priority vehicle visits across a network of garages, with the right people notified the moment one arrives.
This one runs behind a client’s login. I can describe what it does and how it was built, but not show the interface or name specifics.
Overview
A small, focused tool: when a particular vehicle arrives at one of the group's garages, log the visit and make sure the people who need to know find out immediately.
Built in about six weeks.
The problem
Visits were being handled garage by garage, so nobody had a view across the network and word travelled by phone call.
What I built
One record per visit, shared across every garage, with notifications pushed to staff rather than waiting to be checked. Built to work in more than one language from the start, since the garages don't all share one.
Key features
One view across every garage
Visits are logged against the garage and the vehicle, so the whole network is visible from one place instead of site by site.
Notified, not chased
Arrivals push a notification to the staff who need it, so nobody is refreshing a page or waiting on a call.
Works in more than one language
Built multilingual from the start rather than translated afterwards.
Roles, kept simple
Garage staff and administrators see what's relevant to them, and nothing else.
